HPB October Halloween Mani Link-Up

Hey, everyone!

Today I am very excited to be part of my very first monthly link-up with Hobby Polish Bloggers! What is a link-up, you ask? Well, at the end of this post, you'll be able to see the nail art of all the other wonderful participants who have done their own versions of this month's theme, which is HALLOWEEN!!! Keep reading for more details!

For those of you who don't know, Hobby Polish Bloggers is a group for nail art and nail polish bloggers. We help each other out with technical difficulties, advice, and plain ol' support. Because let's face it, blogging can be tricky sometimes! While I've only been a part of this fantastic group of ladies for a short time, I have learned so much already and everyone is so kind! It's definitely the push I needed to get my blogging in a more professional and yet fun frame of mind! And this link-up is just the first of many to come, because we're planning on doing a monthly theme towards the end of each month! YAY!

Okay, now on to this fun Halloween mani! I was inspired by this color-changing cup from Menchie's Frozen Yogurt when I last visited my boyfriend. It starts out white, and changes color as you put the cold fro-yo in it. How cute! In the picture below, you can see how it got whiter as it got emptier!

I kind of made up my own color scheme, but I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out! It's such a nice change from the typical orange-and-black Halloween colors (which, don't get me wrong, orange and black are by far my favorite colors!) while still being a little spooky. The little blue bat is by far my favorite!

I started off with a white base on all my nails, then used my Blackheart Beauty Crime Scene UV top coat. After that I dabbled on a bit of Polish Me Silly Freckles. I then free-handed the spiderweb, bone, bat, and spider, and stamped the skeleton using Winstonia stamping plate W116. Finally I used Seche Vite, as usual, to seal it all in!

And THEN, I got to play with my newly acquired UV black light flashlight. I really wish the pictures were a bit more accurate, because these nails glowed SO BRIGHT under the black light! This first picture was taken with -0.3EV, and the second one below was taken with -1.7EV to show how brightly the neon specks of Freckles popped. Seriously, they were like little explosions of light and color on my nails! So fun and cool!

    1. Thanks! And yeah, that's one of the things I love about UV reactive polishes - all the cool glow under a black light, with none of the distracting glow properties that keep me awake in the dark staring at my nails! ;-D
