Yes, this year has already been pretty hectic and we're barely halfway through the first month! Along with a quick update on why that's the case with me, I also have some simple nail art to share with you today. So keep reading to find out more!
First of all, I must apologize for my extended absence. My original plan was to take the first week of 2015 to relax, get my goals for the year in order, and spend some time with my boyfriend in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, my immune system had other plans. I've been super horribly sick for over a week and a half, and finally the antibiotics I got are kicking whatever this nastiness is in the butt. So thankfully, I'm feeling more like a normal person! Hopefully this is the beginning of me being back on schedule with blogging and life in general.
Secondly, I'm really excited to be using a new gadget/tool/accessory that was waiting for me when I got home. I've heard a lot about OttLite light bulbs and lights, and if you haven't yet then I highly recommend checking them out. Essentially, these lights are great for if you do detail work often (i.e. crafting, needlework, quilting, nail art, etc) because they show truer colors without straining your eyes. Also, they're super energy efficient and don't get as hot as a conventional bulb. Yippee! So I ordered a standard Edison 25W replacement bulb and a candelabra/standard bulb adapter so I could use it in my Ikea desk lamp, both from Amazon.
Unfortunately, my lamp's bulb cover/shade was then too small for all this new nonsense to fit into it, so I had to fabricate a new bulb cover and OMG it was so much fun and I'm so proud that it actually works! So far I absolutely LOVE my OttLite bulb, it really is a lot brighter without being blindingly so, and my colors in pictures and in person are so much more true! In this picture above you can kind of see my handiwork above the lightbox (heehee).
Finally, here's the mani I'm currently wearing as I write this post. I started with two coats of OPI Can't Find My Czechbook on all fingers, then created a gradient using that and OPI I Saw... U Saw... We Saw... Warsaw on my index, middle, and pinky fingers. After that was dry, I did one thin coat of Fair Maiden Polish Fairy Godmother, which I got for Christmas and ABSOLUTELY LOVE. It's a linear holographic topcoat that essentially makes any polish into a holo beauty! Next, I stamped an image from MoYou London Artist Collection plate #17 using ISUSWSW. Finally topcoat and done!

Sorry you've been sick and really glad to hear you are on the mend! I knew that was Artist 17 as soon as I saw your header photo! I LOVE that plate and your stamping is PERFECT! The OttLiite's are such a great investment. I started with bulbs in desk lamps, 3 of them when I still used my lightbox often, and upgraded to a single 18w OttLite when the craft store had then on sale for 60% off. How could I resist??? I love it! It is everything you said and I now use 1 light instead of 3, even with the lightbox. Happy New Year Millie! <3

Also I can't believe I survived without the OttLite for this long - it's incredible the difference it makes!
