Hey, everyone!
Today I have another review of a product from Born Pretty Store! This time it's one of their new Born Pretty Store brand water decal sets, so keep reading to learn more!
As I think I've said before, my skill when it comes to floral nail art is pretty sub-par. Which is why I LOVE floral water decals! You get an awesome result with so little effort!
This set that I chose to review is in the style BP-W14 and can be purchased here for currently $2.24 each. Each sheet comes with 20 full nail designs in two different patterns, so you have the potential for 2 full manis in two different looks.
For this first look (I'll do a separate post with the second design later), I chose to use the water decals with the blue and grey lilies (?). They're kinda bright and summery without being too in-your-face, which I really like. On all my nails but my ring fingers, I painted two coats of Maybelline Go Go Green followed by a light coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust for a bit of lovely sparkle. On my ring fingers I painted two coats of Sally Hansen White On. I chose the best width for my nails, which happened to be the second from the right, if you refer to my pictures above. When the white base was completely dry, I removed the plastic film on the water decals and soaked them in water for about 30 seconds. Then the images slid off the paper backing and I carefully positioned them on my nails, using a tissue to gently dab away the excess water. Since the images are really long compared to my nails, I used a cleanup brush and acetone to remove the excess image. Then I applied topcoat to finish everything off.
These water decals are really gorgeous, don't you think? Here are some things I noticed when working with them, though. In my opinion, my nail beds are fairly narrow (except for my thumbs). This being said, the images I chose barely fit side-to-side on my ring finger nails. I wish that, with full-nail designs like this, there weren't boundaries between the images, that you could just trim a big sheet to fit your nail size. Does that make sense? Also, I'm really glad I chose a white base because the image seemed really sheer, with no white backing on the floral parts. So heads up, this will probably only look good over a light-colored base! Overall, though, I'm really glad I have these because I think they're a nice mix of elegant and fun!
