Summery Paisley

I don't know about you out there, but paisley is a crazy hard design to do by hand. I tried, it didn't turn out as crisp as I'd have liked, even though it was still cute. Thank goodness for stamping plates! Keep reading to find out more about this look!

I have only tried doing paisley nail art one other time besides this example, and it was really recently. My stepsister asked for me to do some blue and white paisley nails for her 8th grade promotion a few weeks ago. They turned out pretty well, although not as perfected as a stamp or decal, obviously. Nonetheless, she was happy with them. I barely remembered to snap a quick pic with my phone after the ceremony (at Red Robin, haha!), hence the not-so-great photo quality. But she liked them, and considering it was my first attempt at such an intricate design, I liked them too! I used Sinful Colors Endless Blue and Sally Hansen White On and a couple blue rhinestones. 

 Of course, a few days after I did her nails, I received my Messy Mansion stamping plate MM48 that I had ordered, which is full of gorgeous paisley designs. Just my luck! Oh well! Maybe I'll have to give her a redo mani? I'm always amazed by how perfectly Messy Mansion plates stamp. The images are engraved so perfectly and at just the right depth, which makes stamping so much easier!

 For this summery mani, I started with a coat of Sally Hansen White On on my thumb, index, and ring fingers, and two coats of Sinful Colors Island Coral on my middle and pinky fingers. I like Island Coral a lot because, being the non-pink fan that I am, it's just barely pink enough for me to be okay with wearing! Anyway, after the base colors were dry, I stamped over the coral nails with  black and a tiny sparse paisley design from MM48. Then on the white nails I did a stamper marble (are you sick of them yet? I'm not!) with White On, Island Coral, and OPI My Gecko Does Tricks, which I borrowed from my grandma. I just adore that this method gives a nice diffused look of color without being as blended together as much as it would look with a makeup sponge. After that, I stamped a larger paisley design with the same plate also in black. I finished it all with a layer of topcoat.

Overall, I REALLY loved how this turned out. It had just enough girly-ness to it for my taste, with a nice pop of color for summer. I can't wait to play around with this stamping plate some more! Maybe I'll use my stepsis as a guinea pig... I'm sure she won't mind! Thanks for stopping by!
