Les Nail Smiths, March 2015: Pinterest Inspired

Hey, everyone!

For this month's installment of Les Nail Smiths with Michelle of Le Lacquer Hookup, we have - wait for it - PINTEREST INSPIRED MANIS! Keep reading to find out more!

For this month, Michelle and I decided to help each other out. Each of us has at least one enormous "Inspired By" type Pinterest board for nail art. So many pins are on these boards that, even though we love every single one, we kinda get overwhelmed! So what we did was this: I chose a design for Michelle to replicate from one of her boards, and she chose one for me to replicate from one of my boards! It worked out really well. The design that she chose for me can be found here - and unfortunately it was pretty much impossible for me to find a larger version of it, so that's what I had to work with! Let's just say it was quite a challenge...

If any of you know me personally, you know I LOVE cats. And when I saw this design originally I loved the sweet little kitty silhouettes! Granted, my nails are a lot shorter than the ones in the original design, but I gave it a go. I started off by painting my nails with two coats of the following colors: Essie Eternal Optimist on thumb and ring finger; Love & Beauty by Forever 21 Periwinkle on my index finger; Wet n Wild Black Creme on my middle finger; and Sally Hansen White On on my pinky finger. When those were dry, I used my favorite detail brush and black polish to paint the silhouettes on all of the non-black nails. Man, was it time-consuming! On my middle finger I used Eternal Optimist and a tiny bit of black to paint the bow, since I didn't have any 3D bows to add. I top coated all nails, then added a tiny bit of nail glue in a few spots to add a few clear rhinestones. Overall, I absolutely impressed myself with how well I was able to reproduce the cat shapes, ESPECIALLY the one on my thumb!

On my right hand, I used all the same colors and just did some cute little simplified cat silhouettes. I loved this hand, too! I normally don't enjoy designs that are on the girly side, like this, but I think because I put so much effort into it, I couldn't resist loving it!
